Wang is alleged to have controlled over 19 million infected computers in nearly 200 countries through his botnet for nearly a decade, selling access to cyber criminals. Those cyber criminals used the botnet for identity theft, child exploitation, financial fraud, and pandemic relief fraud, causing nearly $6 billion in estimated losses.
